Kehua Wins Technology Innovation Award for Pumped-Storage Power Solutions

13 Aug 2026

XIAMEN, China, Aug. 10, 2026 Kehua has received the Technology Innovation Award in the Hydropower and Pumped-Storage Sector at the 3rd Hydropower and Pumped Storage Construction Conference and Equipment Exhibition. The recognition highlights Kehuas nearly four decades of experience in critical power and its continued development of digital infrastructure solutions for hydropower and pumped-storage facilities.

Pumped-storage hydropower is widely recognized as one of the most mature and commercially viable technologies for large-scale energy storage, grid flexibility and system stability. Yet the sector continues to face significant technical challenges, including high-head and other complex operating conditions, harsh environments, the need for uninterrupted and reliable power across entire facilities, and plant-wide intelligent operation and maintenance.

Addressing these challenges requires continued innovation in both critical power systems and digital infrastructure. Drawing on its end-to-end in-house R&D capabilities, Kehua has developed a full-stack approach focused on hardware reliability, environmental adaptability, deployment efficiency and intelligent maintenance. The approach is built around two complementary pillars: industrial-grade critical power and modular digital infrastructure.

Two Pillars for Reliable and Intelligent Pumped-Storage Infrastructure

  • Industrial-Grade Power for Demanding Environments

Hydropower and pumped-storage facilities often operate in environments affected by humidity, dust, harmonic interference, frequent load fluctuations and wide temperature variations.

To support stable operation under these conditions, Kehua provides a broad range of critical power products, including integrated AC/DC power systems, Industrial-grade UPS and megawatt-class UPS. These products support flexible deployment, system monitoring, fault protection and redundant power configurations, while also meeting the requirements of high-power digital and computing loads.

  • Modular Digital Infrastructure for Smarter Operations

As intelligent monitoring and centralized control become increasingly important, pumped-storage facilities also require digital infrastructure that can be deployed efficiently and expanded over time.

Kehuas WiseAisle 8.0 Modular Data Center Solution offers single-row and double-row micro-modular configurations for underground equipment rooms, central control rooms and centralized control facilities. It combines flexible deployment and capacity expansion with energy-efficient operation and AI-enabled infrastructure monitoring. With a year-round operating PUE of no more than 1.2, the solution also supports more efficient and lower-carbon plant operations.

Together, the two pillars provide a coordinated foundation for reliable power delivery and intelligent plant operations. These capabilities have already been applied across major hydropower and pumped-storage projects.

Proven in Hydropower and Pumped-Storage Projects

With more than three decades of experience in the power sector, Kehuas products and solutions have been deployed in major projects operated by organizations including State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, China Energy, China Huaneng, China Huadian and State Power Investment Corporation.

At the Meizhou Pumped-Storage Power Station, Kehuas high-reliability UPS products provide uninterrupted power for monitoring, network and office IT equipment. The system was configured according to on-site load requirements and is designed to protect critical equipment against grid fluctuations, supporting the plants long-term operation and maintenance.

At China Energys Wanan Hydropower Plant in Jiangxi Province, Kehua supplied a modular data center solution for a new dispatching IT equipment room. The modular architecture supports flexible expansion and online maintenance, while precision cooling, intelligent inspection and factory pre-commissioning help improve energy efficiency and shorten on-site deployment.

Supporting the Green and Low-Carbon Energy Transition

Leveraging its core strengths in full-stack in-house R&D, adaptability across diverse operating scenarios and end-to-end service delivery, Kehua will continue to refine its high-reliability power equipment and digital infrastructure for hydropower and pumped-storage applications.

The company will remain focused on addressing advanced technical challenges facing the sector and applying innovative equipment and technologies developed in-house to enable safer, more efficient and more intelligent construction and operation of pumped-storage facilities.

Through these efforts, Kehua aims to support more flexible and resilient power systems and contribute to the transition toward greener, lower-carbon energy systems.
